How to Play Connect Four

  1. 1Pick a column to drop your disc into.
  2. 2Discs fall to the lowest free slot in that column.
  3. 3Connect four of your discs horizontally, vertically or diagonally to win.

Rules

  • The board is seven columns wide and six rows tall.
  • Players alternate turns and cannot skip a move.
  • A column that is already full cannot be played.
  • If the board fills with no line of four, the game is a draw.

Controls

  • Click or tap the column you want to play.
  • Arrow keys move the column selector and Enter drops the disc.
  • Undo takes back the last move in two-player mode.

Tips & Strategy

  • Play centre columns early — they take part in the most winning lines.
  • Watch for your opponent building three with an open end and block it.
  • Set up a double threat so a single block cannot stop you.
